Millars Vineyard was established in 2005 after a long and sometimes
exhaustive effort to find the right property to develop. Having initially
lived in Auckland we made the decision in the late 90's to pursue our dream
of a commercial vineyard. Having looked at several properties we finally
settled on a beautiful 10 acre block in the Kingsview Farm Estate, in
Northland's scenic seaside town of Mangawhai.
The Millar family is made up of Ross and Jennimay Millar and our four sons
and one daughter - Kimberley, Jordan, Zac, Elliott, Harrison and Jazz the
Jack Russell dog (who has since passed away. Much loved and sorely missed).
We now have a vineyard cat that just arrived on our doorstep as a little
ball of fluff and is now our resident rabbit catcher. Our eldest three
children chose to stay in Auckland whilst the youngest two, Elliott and
Harrison, came with us to follow our dream (God bless them!!). Planting out a
vineyard was a big challenge and the whole family has had to work very hard
to achieve our goals. Throughout the blood, sweat and occasional tears there
have been large slices of fun and laughter and old fashioned pride. It has
been a wonderful journey and long may we keep producing top class wine. My
immeasurable thanks to my wife for keeping my feet on the ground and to my
children who never stopped believing in me.
